Frankfurt Airport operates a night flight ban between 23:00 and 05:00. The consequence: a huge number of departures crowd into the early morning hours, and late arrivals reach the city around midnight — exactly when public transport is thinnest. Here is how to plan the edge hours properly.
Early Departure (6:00–8:00 am)
The first wave from 6 am is the busiest time of day. Our recommendations:
- Be at the terminal 2 hours before departure (2.5 hours for intercontinental flights, or from Terminal 3 if you do not know it yet).
- The S-Bahn runs a reduced night service — if you need to be at the airport at 4:30 am, many places simply have no connection.
- A pre-booked 4:00 am transfer works exactly as reliably with us as one at 2:00 pm — with no night surcharge on the fixed price.
Late Arrival (10:00–11:00 pm)
After the last landings before the night ban, the terminals empty quickly. Taxi queues can get long after several simultaneous arrivals, and rental car desks partly close before midnight. With a pre-booked driver in the arrivals hall, none of that matters — even if your flight slips to 11:30 pm: we track the landing and wait.
Connecting with an Overnight Stay
For next-morning connections, consider the airport hotels (some connected directly to T1) or cheaper options near the city. We drive you there in the evening and back in the morning — both at a fixed price, both planned in advance.
Why Pre-Booking Matters Most at Night
At 4 am there is no plan B — which is exactly why the plan A should be booked.
During the day you will always find some way to get to or from FRA. At night, not necessarily — and that is exactly when reliability and a fixed price are worth the most. Book your night transfer at least a day ahead, add your flight number, and the rest happens automatically. First time at the airport? Our Frankfurt Airport guide walks you through both terminals.
