"I will just drive myself" sounds like the simplest solution — until you see the parking bill at Frankfurt Airport. Here is the sober comparison.
What Parking at FRA Really Costs
The terminal garages (including the new P11 at Terminal 3 with 8,500 spaces) cost roughly €20–€50 per day depending on location and booking; a holiday week quickly reaches €100–€250, with short-stay terminal parking far above that. Cheaper off-airport lots save money but cost shuttle time.
The Hidden Costs
- Time: finding a space, shuttle, walking — add 20–40 minutes of buffer.
- Return-trip reality: driving 1–2 hours yourself after a night flight is the least pleasant version of all.
- Risk: parking dents, a dead battery after three weeks, connection stress.
Your own car at the airport is not transport — it is a parked monthly rent.
The Transfer Maths
Outbound and return transfers from Frankfurt together start around €90 fixed — including pickup at your front door and a driver who waits through delays. From about 3–4 parking days, the transfer is usually cheaper; from the wider region (see all destinations on our destinations page), the break-even shifts accordingly.
Rule of Thumb
A 1–2 day trip driving in yourself: parking can pay off (book online in advance!). A week-plus holiday, family, night flights: book the transfer and leave the car at home.
