If you are looking for Frankfurt Airport Terminal 2, here is the most important fact first: it has closed. As of 9 June 2026, Terminal 2 no longer handles passengers. This is the single biggest change at FRA in years, so make sure any older advice you have read is not sending you to the wrong place.
What Happened to Terminal 2
Terminal 2 closed for a comprehensive modernisation worth around €1.5 billion. The building was decades old and is being completely rebuilt, with passenger operations not expected to resume until the mid-2030s and main construction scheduled to begin around 2030.
Where Did Its Airlines Go?
All Terminal 2 airlines moved to the new Terminal 3 in phases between April and June 2026. These were mainly the non-Star-Alliance carriers, including Air France, KLM, Delta, Emirates, Iberia, easyJet, Finnair and Korean Air, among others. If your airline used to depart from Terminal 2, it now uses Terminal 3.
What This Means for You
- Check your terminal: your booking or the FRA website shows the current terminal — do not rely on memory or old guides.
- Terminal 3 is far from Terminal 1: they are at opposite ends of the airfield, linked by the SkyLine train.
- Allow time for connections: a change between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 is not quick.
Getting to Terminal 3 Instead
The short version: there is no Terminal 2 anymore — if your old flight left from there, head to Terminal 3.
Terminal 3 is modern, with CT security lanes (no removing liquids or electronics) and capacity for around 19 million passengers a year. See our complete airport guide for the full layout.
Arriving or Departing from Terminal 3
