Luxembourg City — home to EU institutions, banks, and funds — lies around 230 km west of Frankfurt Airport. For many business travellers, FRA is the most practical hub for Luxembourg. Here are the options.
Private Transfer: Just Over 2 Hours, Door to Door
Via the A3, A6, and A64 (through Trier) or the A60, a private transfer takes around 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to the banking district, the Kirchberg plateau, or any other address in the Grand Duchy — full details on the Frankfurt Airport to Luxembourg City transfer page.
- Cost: fixed price from €360
- Border: Luxembourg is in the EU and Schengen — no checks, no vignette, no extra fees
- Also possible: Luxembourg Airport (LUX) as the destination, e.g. for separate bookings
Train: Only with Changes
There is no direct connection. By rail you travel via Koblenz and Trier or via Saarbrücken — realistically 4 to 5 hours with two or more changes. Rarely practical for business travellers with appointments.
Long-Distance Bus
Direct buses (e.g. Flixbus) take around 3.5 to 4 hours and cost €20–€40. Cheap, but tied to fixed departure times and with no comfort guarantee.
Our Recommendation
On this route the private transfer wins clearly: it is roughly twice as fast as the train, and the fixed price makes it predictable for corporate clients. Many of our Luxembourg customers book the outbound and return together; on request we issue invoices with all the details needed for expense reports.
