Updated June 2026. Frankfurt Airport now operates two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) and the brand-new Terminal 3 (T3). Terminal 2 closed on 9 June 2026 for a long-term modernization. Knowing which terminal applies to your flight makes a significant difference to your arrival experience.
Terminal 1 (T1)
Terminal 1 remains the primary hub for Lufthansa and all Star Alliance carriers. It is divided into three departure halls:
- Hall A: Lufthansa intercontinental and European flights, Star Alliance partners
- Hall B: Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines
- Hall C: Air Dolomiti and other carriers
Terminal 1 also contains the long-distance train station (Fernbahnhof) with direct ICE connections to Cologne, Berlin, Munich, and beyond. The S-Bahn station is in the T1 basement (B level).
Terminal 3 (T3) — New in 2026
Terminal 3 opened on 23 April 2026 in the southern part of the airport and now handles nearly all non-Star-Alliance carriers: Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Condor, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, British Airways, and many others. It spans piers G, H, and J, with capacity for around 19 million passengers a year.
T3 features 21 latest-generation security lanes with CT scanners (liquids and laptops stay in your bag), a new baggage hall with up to 15 carousels, its own A5 motorway access, a drop-off zone at the entrance, and a parking garage with around 8,500 spaces.
What Happened to Terminal 2?
Terminal 2 suspended passenger operations on 9 June 2026. All 57 airlines that used it moved to Terminal 3 between late April and early June 2026. The building is being completely modernized and is expected to reopen in the mid-2030s.
How to Get Between T1 and T3
The extended SkyLine people mover connects T1 and T3 in approximately 8 minutes, with departures every two to three minutes. It is free and operates 24 hours. Shuttle buses also link the terminals at ground level. For a connection between airlines in different terminals, allow at least 60–90 minutes.
Where to Meet Your FrankfurtRide Driver
Two terminals, one rule: check your boarding pass before you set off — not when you arrive.
FrankfurtRide drivers wait in the public arrivals hall of your terminal — Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 — with a name board. Your booking confirmation specifies exactly which exit to head for based on your flight details. If you are unsure, call or WhatsApp your driver directly — the number is in your confirmation email. For arrival steps and onward travel, see the full Frankfurt Airport guide, or book a pickup for your next arrival.
